Zoo Lover's Delight
The Wilhelma, the Stuttgart Zoo is not only home to animals, insects, fish and reptiles but also to a wonderful collection of gardens and plants. Visit the greenhouses with their collection of orchids, cactus and fuchsia, the winter garden with its palm trees, tropical plants and fish pond and much more.
The Wilhelma Zoo is renown for its monkey and gorilla nursery. Orphaned members of the ape family are brought here from all over the world. Watch them playing in the nursery, being fed with a babies bottle and then going for an afternoon nap in their cots.
Lovers of elephants get to see the elephants having their daily shower, their keepers hose them down every afternoon.
At the far end of the zoo there is a small enclosure with farm animals many of which are an endangered species. Watch the cows being milked, the pigs having a rest or for the very bold, you can go into the goat's pen and feed them.
