Car Lover's Paradise

A full day is required to visit the two world famous museums. Although both museums have famous cars on display, they are totally different from one another in their design and layout. All exhibits have information in English and visitors are provided with an audio guide at the entrance desk. Take your time and view all the cars at length, you can even sit in some of them.

The newly designed Porsche Museum opened in January 2009 and had 45,000 visitors within the first month. We visit the Porsche Museum in the morning and learn about the life and work of Ferdinand Porsche. The first Porsche was made in Austria in 1948, the production moved to Germany in 1952. Watch a video with Derek Bell, five times winner of the Le Mans Race. Derek talks about the calm, collected and professional method of working he observed from his Porsche support team. At half-time of your day in paradise, we go for lunch and then continue to the Mercedes Benz Museum.

The tour of the Mercedes-Benz Museum begins not with the sound of a motor car but with the sound of horses as they were the first known means of transport.

There are not only cars on display but fire-engines, buses and lorries as well. In the celebrity section there are cars which used to belong to famous people. View the Mercedes once owned by the late Princess Diana, the former pope's old car and the car which once belonged to the Emperor of Japan. As you make your way around the museum there are posters on the wall in English and German depicting what was happening in the world at this particular time. The Mercedes Museum is not only interesting for car lovers but also for people interested in history.

Adam and Eve couldn't stay in paradise for ever and neither can you. The Mercedes-Benz Museum closes at 6.00 p.m. then you have to return to earth!
