Stuttgart

Set in a valley, surrounded by vineyards, Stuttgart is home to the famous Porsche and Mercedes-Benz Museums, the second largest region of natural spa-water springs in Europe, the German Agricultural Museum, the biggest Spring fairground in Europe, a first division football team and a host of other attractions too numerous to mention.

The Stuttgart area is one of culture with many indoor and open-air concerts throughout the year. Many of the open-air festivities end with an impressive firework display accompanied by music.

The suburb of Bad-Cannstatt was formerly a spa-town

where people came to be cured and to recuperate. The Spa-Water Swimming Pool "Mineral Bad Berg" is over 150 years old and still popular with the residents of Stuttgart. 5 Million litres of natural mineral water flow out of five springs into the inside and outdoor swimming pools every day. In the outside pool you can swim in spa-water and if you get thirsty there is a natural spa-water fountain in the middle of the pool, the water is so good for you, you can swim in it and drink it as well!

If you like

Christmas markets

then Stuttgart is the place for you. The Christmas Market begins at the end of November and ends on December 23rd each year. There are over 200 beautifully decorated stalls, an outdoor skating ring and carousels for the children, coupled with the delicious smell of hot German sausages and mulled wine. You won't find more Christmas spirit anywhere else.

The Stuttgart football stadium

, which has room for approximately 56,000 fans is home to a first division football team who were top of the division in 2007. In 2006 Stuttgart hosted several World Cup football matches including the famous England v. Portugal game.

The public transport system in Stuttgart

is excellent. You can travel by public transport to all major sightseeing locations. The majority of the public transport stations were refurbished for the World Cup in 2006 and have access for the disabled. Most of the underground and tram stations have same level platforms and lifts and escalators connect the platforms with the pavement above. Most of the bus and tram stops have ramps and same level platforms with easy access for pushchairs and wheelchairs.

Due to its position in a valley, the city centre of Stuttgart is very flat. The majority of my excursions are therefore suitable for disabled people. I will be happy to send you more details on request.

Situated in South-West Germany, within easy reach of the Black Forest and the French, Swiss, Austrian and Italian borders, Stuttgart is the ideal place for a touring holiday of Europe. There are also good plane and train connections to many European cities.

If you don't like flying, you can travel with the Euro Star from St. Pancreas to Paris via the Channel Tunnel and then directly on to Stuttgart with the French TGV train. The train journey from Paris to Stuttgart takes just under four hours.
